By using a Website or creating a member account, you consent to the data practices prescribed in this Privacy Policy. The Company's Privacy Policy governs the privacy guidelines for the Website.
Information we collect
Personal information may be collected in a number of ways when you visit our Site or use the Borrowedsugar Service. We may collect certain information you voluntarily provide to us which may contain personal information. For example, we may collect your name, user name, address, location, email address, telephone number, and other contact and demographic information when you register and set up an account, fill out a form, submit a comment, or contact us by e-mail or other means. Personal and demographic information may also be collected if you provide such information in connection creating a profile or group, leaving comments, posting content, sending an email or message to another user or participating in any interactive forums or features on the Site: In addition, from time to time we may collect demographic, contact or other personal information you provide in connection with your participation in surveys, sweepstakes, contests, games, promotional offers, and other activities on the Site.
When you use the Site and the Borrowedsugar Service, some information is also automatically collected, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring web site, and your activity on the Site. We treat this information as personal information if we combine it with or link it to any of the identifying information mentioned above. Otherwise, it is used in the aggregate only. Borrowedsugar may automatically collect location information from your mobile device or your mobile carrier. This may be collected even when the application is not actively open and running on our mobile device.
We may automatically collect certain information through the use of "cookies" or web beacons. Cookies are small data files that are stored on a user's hard drive at the request of a Web site to enable the site to recognize users who have previously visited them and retain certain information such as customer preferences and history. If we link cookies to any personally identifying information, we will treat this information as personal information. How we use Personal Information
The Personal Information you provide will be kept confidential and used to support your customer relationship with the Company. We store information about you and your use of the Site, including your User Content, Profile Information, and Nonpersonal Information. In addition, we display your User Content to other registered users of the Neighborhood in order to share your knowledge and insights about local businesses, services, and events within your neighborhood. When you use the Site, you may set up your personal profile, form relationships, send messages, perform searches and queries, form groups, set up events, add applications, and transmit information through various channels. We collect this information so that we can provide you the Site services and offer personalized features. In most cases, we retain it so that, for instance, you can return to view prior messages you have sent or easily see your friend list. When you update information, we usually keep a backup copy of the prior version for a reasonable period of time to enable reversion to the prior version of that information.
We store your Profile Information primarily so that it may be accessed, edited and updated by you, and also so that we may display it, in accordance with your selections via the privacy settings options available in the profile set-up features, to other Neighborhood users who are permitted to view that information by your privacy settings. We will also share your Profile Information with your "friends" who are part of the Neighborhood that you have designated either through the Site or through a third-party site, if available, and if you have selected the option in your profile settings to link your profile information stored at the third party site to your profile on this Site. In some cases where your privacy settings permit, other users may also be able to modify and supplement your Profile Information.
Selected Profile Information from your profile will always be available to users of the Site who are registered to the same Neighborhood URL. Regardless of your privacy settings, your name, network names, and profile picture thumbnail will be available in search results across the Neighborhood URL network and may also be generally available to the public, including to third party search engines. This is primarily so your friends can find you and send a friend request. People who see your name in searches, however, will not be able to access your full Profile Information unless they have a relationship to you that allows such access based on your privacy settings.
We may use and display your full name and email address when you send an email notification to a friend through the Site (such as in an invitation, or when sharing your User Content). We also use your email address to send you updates or news regarding the Site, but you may choose not to receive email of this type by accessing the "Account" tab on the Site and updating your notification settings. Additionally, we use your email address to contact you on behalf of your friends (such as when someone sends you a personal message). BorrowedSugar may send you service-related announcements from time to time through the general operation of the service. BorrowedSugar reserves the right to send you notices about your account even if you opt out of all voluntary email notifications. BorrowedSugar may use and disclose to third parties demographic information included in your Profile Information without identifying you or connecting the information to you as an individual. We do this for purposes such as aggregating how many people in a network like a band or movie and personalizing advertisements and promotions available to your networks. For example, if you put a favorite movie in your profile, we might serve you an advertisement highlighting a screening of a similar one in your town. But we don't tell the movie company who you are. In addition, we use Nonpersonal Information to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the Site and to inform advertisers of such information as well as the number of users that have been exposed to, or clicked on, their advertising banners. We may aggregate Users' nonpersonal information and share this information with our partners, and/or sell this information.
Periodically, we may send you information about our various products and services, or other products and services we feel may be of interest to you. These mailings may be sent electronically or in physical form. Only the Company (or agents or contractors working on behalf of the Company and under confidentiality agreements, or other Members) will send you these mailings. If you do not want to receive such mailings, simply tell us when you give us your Personal Information. Or, at any time you can easily opt-out of receiving further marketing from the Company by contacting us and requesting to have your name removed from our marketing lists. In addition, with respect to mailings sent via email, you may also click the "unsubscribe" link in the email to have your email address removed from our marketing list. All requests to unsubscribe will be handled in a prompt and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable law. Please also be advised that Members cannot unsubscribe from Administrative Messages while they are Members, so if you unsubscribe from Administrative Messages your Membership will be terminated.
Updating Your Personal Information
To update any of your personal information or to change any of your marketing preferences, you may update your personal information through the Website(s) by logging in and accessing the "Account" area.
Information Sharing and Disclosure to Third Parties
Agents or contractors of the Company may have access to your Personal Information for the purpose of performing services on behalf of the Company. All such agents or contractors who have access to your Personal Information are required to keep the information confidential and not use it for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for the Company or as otherwise required by law.
